“Casualties of Fate” is the fourth in a series of ten works, one created each year spanning ten years forming a Decalogue, delving into psychological dilemmas of our time from different vantage points. This work explores our seduction by identity and power as a respite from emptiness and invisibleness. What do we hide and what is exposed as our neurotic attempts to control our fates dematerialize?
The first in the series was “Truth and Betrayal”.
“Truth and Betrayal” dissects of the moment of betrayal through which our assumptions about truth, the truths we hold, confront us. A highly physical piece with fast-paced movement and split second timing, it weaves a hypnotic tale of seeking security in others eyes,”… a hypnotic piece dedicated to communication, vulnerability and human interaction in which five dancers sway, arch and roll on the floor, barefoot and dressed in black. Their tensions are palpable, simple touches electric. Each movement is stretched to its limit, then gracefully transitions to the next.”

Sponsors of both productions:
Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, 4 Culture, The Raynier Foundation, The Glenn H. Kawasaki Foundation, the Paul G Allen Family Foundation and individual donors.
Recognized for its split second timing, innovative partnering and athletic movement, Khambatta Dance Company offers emotionally resonant themes with haunting psychological undertones. Its works are “mature, intricate and exacting…”
