“Not A Love Story” is a live performance by the duet of Sakurako and Phil Von combining visual installation, flamenco and butoh dance, physical theatre, cinematographic video installation and electronic music with the participatory theatre effect for the audience. Two characters awake without a trace of memories. Ancient, imaginary and modern worlds are intertwined within video projections like the fragmented memories of the past or the visions of the upcoming future. The dancers interact to find out who they are and why they are here, in this world now.
DANCE THEATRE OKARUKAS
OKARUKAS is the only dance theatre company in Lithuania, which enriches contemporary dance and theatre by butoh practice, thus creating a unique style with its very distinct aesthetics and philosophy. OKARUKAS is being recognized for its interdisciplinary and usually site-specific approach.
Phil Von (French composer and performer) and Sakurako (Lithuanian born visual artist residing abroad for 20 years) were together artists in residency in Paris for 3 years and led the dance company “Re-United Now-Here”. In 2017 Sakurako and Phil Von moved to Vilnius launching OKARUKAS, the team of young generation Lithuanian actors and dancers united by butoh practice.
