Kingsley A. Odiaka

Kingsley A. Odiaka was trained in various dance styles in Nigeria and took part in international workshops. He studied Improvisation Techniques under Heddy Maalem, Limón Technique under Risa Steinberg, Modern Dance under Kenji Takagi and Contemporary Dance under Iñaki Azpillaga and Peter Jasko. He works as a dancer, choreographer, lecturer and production manager. In 2011 he created “ARUGBA – The Bearer” in collaboration with the Wakajoo Dance Company in Nigeria. He presented his 2010 solo piece “i ALONE” among others in June 2012 at tanzhaus nrw in the framework of the interdisciplinary production series “Now & Next”. As a dancer, he collaborates with different choreographers, for instance Heddy Maalem, in whose version of “Sacre” he guested at tanzhaus nrw during the “sacre plus” festival in 2010. Kingsley Odiaka is a guest dancer of the Ijodee Dance Company and danced in various productions of Gongbeat Productions. As a lecturer, he teaches Contemporary African Dance, African Dance, Contemporary Dance and Salsa.

iALONE … woke up this day to see the greatness of creation as the sun rises from one side of the world, standing right in the middle, overseeing the work of the creator himself and knowing fully well that it will definitely set on the other side.
