We are finally very glad to announce the Opening of 15th anniversary International Festival of Modern Dance in Kaunas, Lithuania.

The Festival taking place on 7-10, October, 2005 in two cities Vilnius and Kaunas is hosting a wide range of stardom to be a sin to miss. The 15th Festival originally dedicated to the dance performances which reflect any aspects or distinguishing features of different regions or countries is presenting the performances with a taste of Greek philosophy, traces of Philippine dance and a talented Polish adaptation to their master’s Witold’s Gombrowicz’s philosophy. Ranging from modern ballet to butoh, the Festival involves countries from overseas Canada to different parts of Europe. We are extremely honored to host Quasi Stellar with its magnificent choreographer Apostolia Papadamaki involved in co-production with Jan Fabre for the 2005 Avignon Festival - the presenters from Greece who opened 12th Para Olympic Games, the prominent Dutch National Ballet, the Austrian professionals cieLaroque, the Canadian butoh masters Kokoro Dance and the brilliant rising company Velvet/Joanne Leighton Company of 5 gorgeous dancers (choreographer Joanne Leighton) from Belgium making an original creation out of the non-orginal choreographic material of the 15 world-known choreographers (Jean-Claude Gallota, Wim Vanderkeybus, Steve Paxton, etc.) works.

The Festival framework breaks limits for the FIRST TIME in Lithuania presenting the late night performance (starting at 00:00AM) of butoh soul and spirit show. The Festival will be broaden by the conceptually conected video instalations, textile and scuplture exposition situated in the lobby by the gifted artist Aukse Petruliene.

The Festival performances are also accompanied by the workshops of famous masters and everyone is invited to take part in them. The workshops are free of charge, although number of participants is limited so early registration by e-mail info@dancefestival.lt is strongly advised.

Group Motion Dance Company was invited to perform at the 2004 InternationalFestival of Modern Dance in Kaunas, Lithuania.We loved the festival and hada great experience performing, teaching and being part of a very rich andvery international festival program. We were particularly pleased having anopportunity to work with the Kaunas Dance Company and engaging them in ourperformance.The city is beautiful and the hospitality was tremendous.We would love to return some time.
